About Bean Creative
Living right on the North East coast and working from my shepherds hut hideout in my garden, my handmade jewellery combines the beauty of sterling silver with the warmth of recycled copper. As well as using every scrap, now all the sterling silver supplies I get from Cookson Gold, are 100% recycled.
Being continually drawn to nature, I am often inspired by its textures, imperfections and asymmetry. By hammering, melting and recycling, I am able to produce unique, tactile pieces, as nothing is cast, every piece is carefully formed and marked and stamped by my own hand.
The nature and beauty of handmade means no two are exactly the same.
All the pretty pieces of sea glass are collected from North East beaches, from Redcar to Runswick Bay and up to Seaham. I sand the back of each by hand, on an old oil stone, that way a greater amount of light can get through and reflect back from the textured silver. It reminds me of the bottom of sand pools! Each is wrapped in copper, reclaimed from old electrical cable, a lovely warm contrast to the sterling silver.
